Graduate Student Issues

Graduate students in Manitoba are not immune to the issues facing undergraduate students in the province. They study in underfunded universities, pay exorbitant fees, and accumulate staggering levels of debt. But they also face a unique circumstance: developing unique research intended for audiences beyond their own institution; defending academic freedom and research integrity; competing for funding from the Tri-Council Funding Agency; and mobilising to protect their ability to pay reduced fees through the “post-residency fee” system.

Many of these campaigns are organized through the National Graduate Caucus. Click the NGS tab on the left, to learn more about the Federation’s graduate student caucus.
